Bravo One Problem
 

I was coming into the bulkhead at the ramp and threw a person a rope on the dock. I turned the wheel to the left and went to pull the transom around. As this happened the boat began to back out and I reached for the shifter and hit the throttle. I think the rpm's were under 2000 and I reached again and threw it in forward. I heard no negative banging or anything but now I have no forward. When in reverse I have to go past neutral to get it to disengage but even with the shifter all the way forward still won't go into forward. Do you think I broke something or is it just a linkage problem. How can I diagnose the problem?

Probably broke the cone clutch or the floor out of the forward gear.

is there anyway to put drive into foward without using the linkage to check to see if the linkage casing moved. I'm in internal damage denial.

Probably bent a shifting fork or stretched the linkage.

It's easy enough to pull the rear cap and work the linkage manually.

Disconnect the shift cable that goes to the drive from the shift point on the motor.Push it in or pull it out and see if it engages foward and reverse.This will tell you if the problem is in the adjustment of the cable.Hope this helps.

Do what fastlane said.. If that doesnt work, pull the back cap and look for problems..

Never shift a Bravo above idle. It's instant death.

Thanks for all the help. I'm going to try pulling the linkage off and shift by hand. I'll let you know how I make out.

Underneathe the forward gear there is a bearing and race the race is broke jus happened to my bravo one about a month ago about a three hour job .
