But if one is running on plane and noise levels are checked --- if you have the exhaust sleeve and are on plane trimmed out a bit running or you have the exhaust bellows as that puts the exhaust under the water at all times for thru the prop exhaust - NON thru hull exhaust.

All Bravo big blocks have the sleeve for the past X amount of years. In the past the lower hp big blocks did not have the exhaust sleeve installed -

Is'nt certain states checking noise levels while running as well ? I do not know cause I do not follow it anymore. Around me they do not perform noise level checks

above is the procedure for testing exhaust noise. Each state or commission that makes the laws for the area your boating in can set the noise limit law. So if law states vessel can be no louder than 90 db at idle. If you got one, two or three engines. The vessel gets tested with all running
