Think of labbed as 'perfection'. You'll get a perfect prop, and when the prop is perfect it runs more efficiently, thus, you gain speed.

One ding in it though, and you gotta get it fixed and re-labbed.

Labbing isn't cheap.

Getting that boat up to 65 with that setup is great. The only thing I'd consider is a pro-charger, which will cost you a few grand but net you the most MPH / dollar.

BTW what is bblades?

I thought about a procharger but This is also my family boat and I guess I think 75 mph is a bit much for a bow rider.

Other advise That I have gotten says that any of these mods also increase the need for work/maintenace proportionately.

How much are we talking about for labbing? $100?

HiPerf2000 09-20-2007 09:57 AM

the last time I had mine done it was $250.

I concur.

64mph with six people aboard a 24' with a stock 454 is damn good!

320es 09-20-2007 10:23 AM

Thge cheapest way to gain speed is to get rid of the other 3 guys. Keep the girls though. ;)

Stick with the stock and those speeds. Especially because you will be talking about upgrading the drive once you add the power. It's also an open bow boat 64 is quick.

I have a 26' boat with the 454. It's a light hull got 69.3 on the kilo run. The only thing I ould do with that Baja is pssiblt addint trim tabs, (if you dont have them) and rase the engine/outdrive better known as the "X" dimension about 1" not more. It's not hard. The gap for the new cut outs can be easiliy fixed and the tabs will help in control. Don't push that boat with kids. Want speed get a bigger and safer boat.
Labbed props are ok will cost you about $100 per blade. Most upgrades on most boats will take effect on higher speeds, once the horses are kicking in. Many upgrades not worth the $ for what you are trying to do.

What gear ratio are you running? With a 1.5 ratio at 5000rpm and a 21" that is only 3% slip. I think your tach may be off a little.

tach?...I think you meant speedo.
If the 3% calculation is correct then he must have a water P/U speedo and not GPS. Seems "real" GPS speeds would be more like 60 huh?
