Default 70's Magnum Marine

These boats built during the Arnow era were made with wood stringers correct? At what time did the boat builders get away from wood? I was looking at a mid 70's Mag.Marine and was curious if wood rot could play a major role in restoration. These boats just have sex appeal considering there 30 years old.

I too am looking for an old classic boat. I think you have to take it case by case. It depends largely on how it was kept. Many if not most boats still contain wood. I think builders got away from wood in part to save weight. There are parts like stringers around the motors, that there is not a better material available. Likewise if a boat has been wet for much of its life it will be compromised. Boats that use fiberglass grid stringer systems also have there shortcomings. The theory of no wood boats is good but I'm not sure how realistic it is. My 2 cents based on over 25 years of working with boats.
