|
What brand of aftermarket springs is a good bet to put on these motors? Also what is the size of the springs?
Anyone....... I know a few guys had to do the swap on here. |
Crane 929-16 for an HP500. That's what I swaped the stocker's out with.

Thanks Dave!!! This post had 370 views and nobody knew this info until now:readinghelp:....I thought I would never find out. I guess there aren't as many 500HP's out there like I thought....
Thanks Again bro, Chuck |
After reading several posts about the strain blowers/chargers put on an engine and the drives I have decided to stick with changing the internals for more HP. Any suggestions are welcome. I would like to see around 590-610HP at the prop with the Merc 500's.
Any ideas????? |

My combo makes around 630 HP.
AFR 315 (Fully CNC'd) Heads Crane Cam 168741 1.7 Ratio rockers on the exhaust 1.8 Ratio rockers on the intake CMI Elbow tops Crane Hi-6M ignition 1" HVH supersucker carb spacer Harden Marine 10 quart Oil pans Harden Marine 620-700 Oil coolers Stock JE pistons, Rods, Stock Dart 6200 intake manifold, Stock Holley Carb and fuel system. That should do it...Worked for me. Dave |
Hey Dave how you been buddy? I hope all is well in NY. That setup looks pretty close to what I am looking for without having to resort to the blowers. What is a ballpark figure I should expect on getting an engine up to that? I know it's not going to be cheap but in the long run I think I will be happier.
Thanks for the input. Chuck |
