My boat runs all the accessories off of one battery. After its been in the boat for a few weekends the trim on that side runs slower even when its fully charged or the motors are running. If I put new batteries in both trims run the same speed for a few weeks again. My theory.. the battery is not as strong from use and there is not as much juice available to run the trim pump. Swap batteries from side to side and see if it changes anything.

Well, not knowing how Paradox is wired, if one pump runs off one battery and the other on another you could use a relay to control a combiner such that each pump sees both batteries when trimming. Many ways to do that and would vary with how your battery switches are wired and set at the time.

Jim, Synthetic oil OK?

MOBILEMERCMAN 10-04-2007 09:49 PM

Probably, I always used a clear oil like castrol though.

I had a slow pump that drove me crazy. I finally pulled the motor and cleaned the commutator where the brushes ride with some steel wool. One I got both motors cleaned up and shiny they run exactly the same speed.

Cleaning everythnig seems like the ticket. My batteries are connected together. I don't think it's a voltage issue. Either the motors not running the same speed or the fluid are not flowing the same. If cleaning won't work, I will try oil viscosity changes.

Thanks

Would you by chance have a picture of the brushes that you cleaned?
