Which way does oil go through the filter? Center out, or outside into center?

I'm installing my Dana marine remote oil filter block. I don't know which is the inlet and outlet. Does the oil need to go into the center of the filter, then to the outside? Or vice versa?

Outside in...

Oil goes thru the outside of the filter and then back to the engine thru the center.

Thanks. I had it backwards, but fixed it and got the plumbing routed correctly.

I always say out from the inside, in thru the outside.

out of the motor
outside of the filter

in to the motor
inside of the filter

I did it backwards one time. The filter had an anti drainback valve in it and it wouldn't allow a bit of oil past. I also have the bypass plugged. When I primed the engine, the drill would hardly turn. If I had started it, it would've beenjunk in 30 seconds. :hitfan:
