Your 509's made 750hp at 8pounds boost which is about 500hp N/A which is a little light at only 1.0hp/cid but your torque at 850 is much higher indicating too little cam and a restrictive long runner intake. The more you can make N/A the more you will make boosted. I would think that your cam is a little small and your intake is a bit restrictive. All being equal 509 to 540 will give you 540N/A hp and then 8 pounds boost + 50%(270hp) to 810hp or +60HP.
I would open up the intake manifold and shorten the runners and go with a RM spec cam. If your new cam and ported intake gives you 1.15HP/cid then 540CID becomes x 1.15 = 620 HP and 8 pounds (+50% 8/16) adds 310hp to 930HP!! Even 600HP N/A (1.11HP/CID) + 6 pounds boost (6/16 + 37.5%) adds 225HP to 825HP which is where you want to be.

Thanks Marty. I am running a Crane 731 roller cam. Definitely looking for a custom grind cam. I would like to keep max boost at 6 psi.
Kennyo-- Don't worry brother. I decided to keep the old girl for a while longer, thats why the switch to 540's. The next ride will be a Top Gun with big power and 6's.
