The fuse for the amp will act the same as the bildge pump. However, the amp is a non critical load, and there should be no reason that it would need power with the switch off.

If you read auto instructions, of course they don't mention the battery disconnect. They don't exist in cars. If they did exist, the manual would also say wire after the switch.

Was going by the instructions, of direct wiring to the battery with the fuses right at the battery. But these are automotive amps, not the marine version. Possibly the reason of no mention of a disconnect??

Thanks again!
You could put circuit breakers in instead of the inline fuses and use them as a switch instead of wiring in a switch.

Im having a hard time finding a disconnect like whats mentioned here. I found one at Oreillys that has a red key that you insert to turn the switch on and off. But it doesnt say anything on the pkg about how much load the switch can handle. Should i put it on the positive cable from the amp a few inches away from the battery?

I ended up hooking the (+) leads from the 2 amps to an 80A solenoid between the amps and battery that would disconnect my amps from power as soon as my radio was turned off. The amps turn on wire is used to trigger the solenoid. All automatic with nothing to switch on/off.

Why such a difference? Enough to drain a battery in 1 week?
An average deep cycle with 140 minute reserve capacity can maintain that load for about 70 days, not 7.
