Default Wiring a GPS

Has anyone ever hard wired a GPS. I have nine wires and only know where to put the red and black and not sure if I even need the other wires. Thanks for any help.

Hard to say without knowing the harness/GPS, but usually there are data wires that can be connected to your VHF for MMSI location purposes. Also, your GPS may have satellite, sonar, or radar options that run off of that harness too.

It seems like it would work fine if you just connect power. The other stuff is auxilary.

Thats what mine was, only had to powr it up with red and black. All the other wires were for optional acessories.

Most GPS makers have a website that you can lookup the owners manual. They are most likely data lines.
