No need to run a multi-viscosity oil, unless you are running in cold temperatures. The viscosity index improvers, which give the oil it's multi-viscosity rating, actually reduce the metal-to-metal protection in high shear conditions. That's why you have several posts here where then engine builder specified the owner only use straight weight oil. The higher the viscosity of the base stock, the more protection you have.
