Default cross over cooling

I just want more imformation about it. Is good idea removing the water pump on a motor with a alpha drive and how does removing one of the pumps give you better cooling. If you guy can give me the pros and con of doing this. I keep seeing them advertised on wed site and I'm just curious about it.

No reason to do a crossover on anything without big hp or sc'd engines.

aside from the fact that in my opinion it looks good ,
i'm not sure if i would do it on an alpha setup , i'v always been suspect about how much water pressure the drive mounted water pump actually makes

That's what I was thinking does the pump on the alpha drive make enough pressure and how is removing the pump on the engine give better cooling when your going to have less pressure. I've also change a impeller on 496 it works the same way as an alpha accept for belts spin the pump and the impellers a little bigger.

i think the 1/4" difference in the alpha impelor and the bravo impellor probably makes a huge difference , but i know in either case a perfectly working pump will supply e-nuff pressure to circulate fresh water around an engine , my worry would be if you run into a little sand and your impellor is only working at 75% or less ........
there are other threads here about people intalling raw water pumps on there engines and water pick ups on the transom for better cooling in alpha situations

I have done some SC small blocks with a Alpha drive in the past. We went to a transom mounted water pickup and raw water pump on the engine to gain volume. Also did a water cross over set up on it. If your low HP and stock leave it alone.
