I have read most of the posts on crossover vs circ pump.....Here is my problem my water temp is to cold.....I need pics of somebody's thermostate that they have drilled....I run a crossover here is a pic......

More important than water temp, what is the oil temp? If you can run the water tempat 120-130 but the oil is at 210, your golden. A lot of guys run a oil thermostat/ bypass system for this reason.

1/8 or 3/16. All you are doing is getting rid of steam pockets and smoothing out the temperature fluctuations. Arizona Speed and Marine has 120 deg. themostats. That's what I use. Damn I posted as Donna again, Ian

I had heard somewhere you were supposed to drill a couple holes on the sides for use with x-overs. Is this wrong then?

??? It seem like that's what he's doing.

Nocigarette by drilling holes in your thermostat outer rim you will run colder.I hope i'm undestanding you correctly.I always run a crossover system and can dial in the temp as i want. You have a bypass already. For you to get warmer you need to go to a warmer thermostat.Still drill an 1/8" hole in the rim.Where i live i seem to be to hot.I drill sometimes 3, 3/16" holes in the rim and reduce flow through the bypass.I would suggest a 160 thermostat and start with one rim hole and go from there.
