part numbers
Two questions actually. Wanting to change the fuel pump in my 454 IV carbed engine. Do not want to spend the 160.00 for merc pump. Is there a alternative pump I can by at auto parts that still has the vent line? Also I need to change the power steering pump. Need the part no. for that also, did not want to use merc if I could get away with it. Do you have to change anything inside the power steering pump if you use the auto parts store version? Thanks
(O.K. 3 questions)

Holley and Mr, gasket both sell a marine mechanical fuel pump.
Any mid eighties to nineties gm truck pump is the same as the merc steering pump (any napa or similar can match it). If it comes with a pulley, check to make sure it is the same dia. and spacing as yours. You may need to have your pulley swapped.
No need to change anything.

Thanks 311 for the offer but was planning on going new. My pump still works but fluctuates a little. My luck yours would to. But I do appreciate it.
On the napa getting a pump, I hope they are better than say Auto zone , advance and the like. I would rather take an a$# whippin than go and get something that you don't have the make ,model,year,4wheel drive, 2wheel etc etc. Those kids that work in most of those places don't know squat about parts, only how to use a keyboard.
I will check NAPA and see what comes up. Thanks all
