OK i haved been f'in with this for 3 hours now and have mounted it in every way possible. The bendix will not engage the fly wheel. Is there something i'm missing? Is it possible that the bendix doesn't extend as far as the stock one? Or is it not coming up high enough? I'm starting to get frustrated and not sure if i can take another min upsidedown:D

The bolts are in the wrong holes. I have had this problem before. There should be a mounting hole showing from under the block when it is installed correctly.

Did you order for a 168 tooth fly wheel?

It sould be going back to the root of the problem though. High torqu starters demand more jusice from the battery, and it might not be getting enough juice to properly engage.

You can come get one of mine and experimnet with, but I want it back.

Hi-torque actually use less juice, they use gearing to get a better advantage, that's why they can build them smaller.

Its getting plenty of juice. The bendix is spinning like a mofo and extending fully. Its just not getting to the fly wheel. Its for a 168. I got it from BM22. Tell Chad to call me if you see him.

Chech the app. year some the the snouts are diff. depths, a friend had that problem it would come out but not engage. It was just free spining out 1/2 before the flywheel

Nope:angry-smiley-038:spent another 2 hours on it today and there is no way that starter will work. I will get mine back on Monday so she should be started that night.

From what i can see the bendix does not come out enough.

Have you tried a different ignition switch yet? I went through the same problems last year. Changed batteries, wires, starters.......all to find out I had a dead spot in the ignition switch.
