Trs Transom Install

reinstalling my trs transom assembley's should i put some 5200 calk on them with cork gasket or no calk ?? any help would be greatly apric. thank's.

I wouldn't use 5200 on anything you plan on removing yourself. I've had to re-glass more than a few transoms because of that stuff.

I used a little sika flex on both sides of the gaskets. I would not use 5200!!!! Someday someone will have to take those off again and with 5200 that would not be pretty

scarabfun 04-01-2008 09:53 PM

yea and i would be that someone. thank's that's what i thought

If the transon is smooth and level and the gimbal surface is intact, you should need nothing on the cork gasket. If not, fix the problem, don't goop up the transom. And don't over-torque. Most gaskets fail from being over-tightened.

I agree, use nothing, the stock gaskets work well, just fix that. Why dont you like 4200?

scarabfun 04-02-2008 06:39 PM

transom is smooth so i'll go with cork only. already fixed transom and repainted. thank's

What is the amount of torque specified for transom bolts?
