Hi, I have two 1997 502 MPIs and have had vapor lock problems only after shutting the engines off for an hour or so (never while at idle). I posted the issue here last year and one of the suggestions was to add Marvel Mystery Oil to the fuel as it raises the boiling point of the fuel. This worked for me... As far as the adding an in line electric booster pump, that applied to engines which do not have the water pump mounted mechanical fuel pump (my 97s have the mechanical pumps).
Good luck...
Good luck...
this is interesting more details please.

Hey guys, if anyone wants a VST tank thingy from a 1994 I've got one you can have for the shipping cost.
I got it from a fellow I bought some EFI parts and he included it. I have the cool fuel so it no use to me.

When I had the vst 502's in my boat I had the same problem, I fixed it by running a return line back to the fuel tank rather than recirculating it. That was the long term fix, short term if it vapor locks on you, crack the fuel line open to release the pressure, tighten it back up and the motors will start, as soon they start get up on plane and going to get fresh fuel through the system and your good until next time.

routing the return line to the tank is the correct way. also... simple thing is when you enter the no wake zone, just crack the engine hatch a couple inches... that will cool everything off very quickly and keep the heat soak to a minimum.
