426 Hemi?
Anyone here have solid 426 Hemi knowledge? I'm looking for something to put in a smaller boat with an open engine compartment. Looking for more WOW than anything else- basically just going to be something to tool aroud our local chain of lakes.
Obviously the $$ per horsepower vs something like a BBC is somewhat more but some of the parts prices just look ridiculous. The heads and blocks aren't ridiculously out of line but things like valve train componentry are ridiculous.
Thoughts?

a crate motor from mopar is your best bet. i have seen them for about $13,500.00. i have a 69 roadrunner w/ a 383 and want to install a hemi someday, but man you can build a killer bbc alot cheaper. my dad has an old 352 marine hemi out of an old wooden boat. complete but apart. has 2 2barrel carb's, pretty cool, he my part with it.

Check these out -
My neighbor bought Dustin Whipples Eliminator a year or so ago - After a couple of drive issues we finally put BMAX's on - it's a kick in the arse!!
The complications come from the exhaust system and bellhousing. They have custom fabricated adapters so you can use the 502 manifolds as no one offers a Hemi app - especially for the Eliminator. They are water cooled and very trick. The bellhousing adapter is just a plate - not as complicated as the exhaust adapters. It's running the Autronix Fuel injection system and very straight forward. Self diagnostic and fairly simple to locate any driveability issues. They make a chitload of torque and dynoed at 1200HP with the smaller pulleys. Intercoolers are between the Throttle body's and S/C and between the S/C and the intake. It's a frikkin riot when you lay into it. I think he's running 6 blade 36 pitch Herrings these days....
