AK, if you want some more insight on the lanyard issue, do a quick search for "lanyard" and see what pops up. We had a lengthy discussion some months back on this topic. Some great testimonials from people that have been involved in unforeseen "situations" where a lanyard either saved their life or prevented catastrophic damage.

I have been tossed out at 65. Was by myself and the boat came to a stop within a short distance. The tether kill saved my butt from swimming a looooooooong distance.
Please, not only install a tether kill, but more important---wear it!!!!!! See the Tres Martin web site for some neat wrist tether cords.

I keep an extra set on the boat in the glove box. My kids (frequent passengers) were told where to plug them in and how to start the boat so they can idle over and get me, should I be thrown out. Without the kill switches plugged in, you can't restart the boat...
