Default remote oil filter / by-pass

Hello,

I have an all stock genv1 502 with remote inverted oil fiter I removed the center by-pass and installed a 30 lb. by-pass in the front hole , I believe this is correct but when I removed the remote oil fiter it was empty is the other by-pass used to hole the oil in the filter. With the empty filter would you cause damage to the filter every time it starts by getting a surge of oil to it. any thoughts. Thanks

anti phsiphon. ( spelling bites)
keeps from draining i believe. makes for a shorter period of time with no oil.

I read where a bypass filter with 11-18psi cut off might be best in this type of appllication...Baldwin and K& N make them too. Am I right or wrong?

30 psi may be on the high end maybe. A bypass supposidly microfilters 10% of the oil at any given time and the other filter is more of a "bowling ball filter" as it filters out large particles.

Since you went this far might as well get a couple magnets for the bottom of the filters at a local auto parts store.

Hopefully you will not have the bypass kick in as unfiltered oil will go through the engine. One way to have it kick in is blipping the throttle whie the engine is cold and the oil is thick.

Let me know if I am on the right track or missed the boat?

Now I kinda confused should I put it back the two by-pass valves and are they 11 lbs. This is a new engine and I don't want to destroy it.Thanks
