Default alternator sizes

Are the mando , or any other alternators smaller case size than the delcos? My BBC delco alternator is shot, and the case slightly interferes with the port side gil manifold anyway. Rather than buy a new alt and bracket as well, or put in a low mount, im thinking a smaller alt case diameter would work.

I just bought one for the sb engine today from Arcomarine.com. Model 65050 75 amps, $241. Much smaller than the original stock alternator. Just a guess, but I would say 1.5-2" smaller in diameter. When the new one arrives later this week I could actually measure and take pics of old and new if it would help.
