Jay13,
Should be able to order it from a local glass shore. Make sure you measure the exact sizes you need and they should cut it for you. It also comes in different colors, blue, purple,yellow,......

Most glass places I have called dont stock it but can get it
All different prices
(some good some bad)
What thickness should I be looking at?
1/4 or 1/8th?
4x8 sheet so far has been $122 plus tax for 1/8
4x8 sheet so far has been $129 plus tax for 1/4
Is the 1/4 necessary ?
What do you all think?
Thanks for any/all help with this

I would say a 1/4 in. would be right.
With it mounted in the horizontal position a 1/8 piece would flex excessively and possibly break.
Get one made of Lexan. If it does break it won't shatter like Plexiglass would.

aluminum = weight
aluminum + polish wont give a perfect mirror finish
i want engines after being dressed up totally, to be shown off not just a fuzzy reflection --I was going to go for a perfect mirror reflection

I have the original plexi glass panels under my hatch and one in the cuddy. The engine hatch mirrors have rubbed through from the back side from vibration and are ruined. I would put some felt behind them to prevent this. The one in my cuddy got screwed up when I had the entire interior steam cleaned. Some of the cleaner got behind it and took off the finish on the back.

I did this last year with great success.
Use 1/4 mirrorplex. Have all the cutting and drilling done by the glass shop. Gave them my dimensions in the morning, picked it up in the afternoon and installed it that night. Looks GREAT. Go to Lowes and buy nylon bushings to put between it and the hatch where the screw holes are. It spaces it about 1/8 inch. Use stainless screws and put the plastic caps over them, also from Lowes.
I bought mine from Triad Plastics in Winston-Salem, but you can get it from a thousand places like Cadillac Plastics, Piedmont Plastics, or just start calling your local glass shops. But trust me, let them do the cutting & drilling. Total cost for all three pieces and hardware for my 272 was $70.00 Good Luck
