What speed are currently seeing and what are you estimating HP at?
|
Not following the concept here. Does the standard version just show you the motor readings? What is the burning part....surely not reprogramming the ECM?

US1.....I don't know how to do double quotes. Both versions you can see live motor readings. The professional version is for MEFI4 and above, from what I'm told. The burning part is, yes a reflash of the ECM. You need to upload you current ECM program, modify it and then download it to the ECM. Yes you are able to re-tune your ECM. It is not a tune on the fly operation as I described above. I am merely using it for troubleshooting now, after I may tweak the program. |
WOW!
Looks like this is something I might be real interested in! I have been thinking of the factory units but at $6 bills its not in my budget. However for 2 bills I can get exactly what I want, to just be able to 'view' what is going on with the motors! I am not looking to push the limit and fine tune, well not as of yet anyway :) Thanks for the find :) |
I can testify on this software now.....
The first thing I noticed is the customer service offered by the company... they were happy to answer my questons instead of being put out. It cost me $595 which is considerable, especially since I was already down $400 for programming, but I figured AZS&M wants $500 for a one time shot anyway so if it worked out I wasn't really loosing much. The second thing I noticed was the product shipped quickly and was easy to install. The standard edition scan and tune lets you upload and download the program in the ecu. It also allows you to open a locked program (if you have the password) or erase the locked program and upload a different program all together. Now!!!! here is the scary part! Once you have downloaded the .bin file (program) from your ecu onto your laptop, it can be used in conjunction with another program that will enable you to observe and manipulate many parameters ( I'm talking several hundred) I was scared to touch the damn thing and began to have buyers remorse. Luckily I called Bob at MEFIburn and he calmed me down and offered alot of help and suggested I read up on a few things regarding fuel injection. One of the benefits of purchasing the software is that you get access to a library of programs which you can apply to your motor. In my case were are talking a 454mag with a procharger. I received a program from Bob and started there. I will say he know his chit, because the boat was immeadiately better than before. Next thing I did was learn a little language pertaining to fuel injection. I have built several carbed motors, but never played with injection. After gaining enough knowledge to be dangerous I grabbed my laptop and hit the lake. I had installed a Innovate LM-1 02 sensor so I could monitor AFR's and the programs included with the Mefiburn software offered complete realtime scanning of the engine so I could moniter every aspect of the engine function. I made several small adjustments to spark, timing, IAC counts, rev limit, base pulse width, boost multipliers and so on. It is scary and you have to take small steps, but once you see how the changes effect the engine you gain confidence. Ultimately I took about four hours and then I ran out of gas because that is the one guage I forgot to watch. What a retard!!! I'm sure I could have done it faster, but It was a learning experience the whole way. My testiment is this........... the boat runs excellent!!!! I have managed to scare myself sh!tless with my new found speed and with my stock Merc. cable/hydraulic steering. My engine sees good AFR's through out the entire rpm range including full boost and this gives me confidence to run it. I went to Havasu for Memorial and ran about a 100 miles on the water and got excellent gas milage. :D:DI am stoked with this purchase and look forward to using it every time I modify this or any other engine with a mefi controller.:D:D |
Nice, but can you reset the hour meter in the ecu :party-smiley-004: I hope not.
|
Good question..... I never checked.... I'm not sure if thats good or bad??? My engine is brand spanking new, but I would not want someone resetting the ecu every season and then sticking you with a worn out motor when selling it. Hmmmmm? |
Trawfish,
Congradulations on going down the right path... I have been saying this in some of the threads on OSO, and EFI that is programmable is the way to go.. It is even better, when you can go to a full closed loop sequential and have total control and build in some feedback monitoring and adjustment.. Then you can just set it, and go anywhere, and have altitude compensation etc. all automated...! Supercharged or not..!! I'm curious if you are logging with dual widebands on your LM-1 using the aux box, or just using a narrow band or wide band and the LM-1 without the aux box... (I plan on using dual widebands in my headers for datalogging.) Please post some of your findings when you experiment..:ernaehrung004: Thanks, Richard |
Update
After getting familiar with the sw, reading and talking to Bob at MEFIBurn. I went through my current flash in the ECM(compared to a stock 502MEFI1 program). The only change was in the fuel map. Above 3200 RPM there is a ton of fuel dumped into the motor with no more timing. Huh I wonder why my motor would not RPM! This was the only change I saw in the program. I have done away with the extreme jump in fuel and added a bit 1-2* of timing for starters. I have yet to run the boat due to the weather in the midwest. I just wanted to let you guys know what was going on. This was money well spent. No more guessing on a program for my motor, just some tuning time. I'll post some numbers after I get it out.
