I have never heard of that. How do you adjust cable steering?

I had the same problem last season, over two inches of side to side play...no up and down play, though. I had the helm and steering cable replaced and now have less than an inch of play. One question in reference to tightening the u-bolt nuts...why is it recommended that you back them off before tightening them to the specified torque ? I tried to tighten them last year but they wouldn't budge...I never tried backing them off first. Thanks,

Rock

From what i ran into with my baja the u-bolt that tightens up the gimbal ring which the pin goes through to the steering arm. By tigntening that up it took all of the play and slop out. My other problem with the steering cable was I think whoever installed it did not just tighten it up all of the way because there is a self locking nut on it.
