The Wix Wix 5122R literature mentiones a By-Pass Valve Setting-PSI of 18-22. What is that for? I usually get the Mobil 1 filters based on their product review and local availability. I cannot find the M1-501 anywhere. Found the Wix 57003R on flebay - Qty 6 for $129.95. The same store (Complete Filtration Services) has the Wix 5122r in a case of 6 for $89.95 plus $10 for shipping, which seems very reasonable.

As hydrocruiser said a ways back in this post (change oil often in a blower motor) I will use the wix 57003r , im keeping a brand new merc filter in stock if something goes wrong put merc filter back on before going to dealer. Also when i cut the 2 filters apart all markings on oring 3 red lines , metal stamp #s inside to thickness of liners / metals etc etc all matched to the point i could not find anything different, colors of liners matched , 8 drain holes etc etc all matched .

thanks for all the feedback questions

the only difference i saw was the decals on the outside of filters

i wasted 100.. buscks on cutting these two (brand new ) filters open

merc 71.00
wix 30.00

Those EA oil filters are no where near a WIX. They absolutely blow them out of the water. AMSOIL's secondary supplier is Wix. They have been in a partnership for almost two years now. The insides of the EA oil filters are a completely different media than what Wix uses.
