Adjustion Rolller rockers, and clearence
What would be a good starting piont for my 1.7 Ratio roller rockers on my 454? And what is the proper way to adjust them? The motors are C&G 454, 461ci big blocks, they have factory GM HP heads, comp cam roller lifter, comp molly push rods, and Harland sharp 1.7 ratio roller rockers, Thanks for any help!!!

You can do it two ways. One is warm and running with the valve covers off- it's messy. The other is by feel. Run #1 to TDC on the compression stroke. Run the rocker down until it's at zero clearance, then turn 1/4 turn. Then rotate the crank 90 degrees and do #8. Keep turning 90 and follow the firing order.
Hydraulics are nowhere near as critical as solids.

That is my point every one has his/her own way of doing it.
When I was taught (decades ago) it was done with the valve covers off and oil flying every where.
Ah don't worry it will burn off the exhaust. Maybe that was back in the days your driveway was gravel and not concrete.

Well I would not suggest doing it with the engines running, unless you like working in a oil mess and your boat looking like you just got it from sanford and son! If you cam is not real radical you can bring each cyl up to tdc with both valves closed back each off till you get soom lash. then tighten rocker nut 1/4 to a 1/2 turn. You can feel for lash by spinning the pushrod till you feel some drag on it. Then stop and go your 1/4 to 1/2 turn.

I do it exactly like you stated. I always do one head at a time, then move over to the next so I am not going back and forth.
