fuel gauge woes

i have livorsi gauges, when my boat is on the trailer it reads (i belive a little low, which is good) but on the water it just constantly stays full, whether at idle or on plane and even if i trim it bow down, just constantly reads full. anyone have any ideas?

i swore it worked the first few months i had (but i could be on crack) it doesnt move at all thugh, last week it was full in the water and read a little better than a quarter on land then i gassed it and it took about 50 gallons ( alittle better then half a tank) and read full

The ground on the tank sender is probably corroded or loose or the ground from the fuel guage has a short.
