Great info SA!
I'm a little confused with the above quote however...
You say the 496 sat just a little higher and the 500EFI sat a bit lower. Wouldn't you be raising the mounts to get the alignment of the 500EFI right under these conditions?
(Did BobL help you out with this?)
Thanks,
Dave

Does anyone have the Merc rigging instructions/dimensions of both of these motors?

Do you have pictures of your tails to the transom? So you made the standard tails fit for now?

Great info!

Thank you

So did anyone figure out if this is plug and play? I'm seeing a issue with motor mounts otherwise I don't see any issues.

Wink

I hope it never happened. Seemed like a misuse of money and time to replace an great engine with another great engine for about the same HP, Less Torque and the loss of the closed cooling system and other great features of the 496. I don't think the customer or shop needs the expierence?

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

I personally don't think the 496 is a better engine than the 500efi. Cast internals vs. Forged internals. 500hp vs. 425hp. I've watched several people try to get that 75hp that the 500efi makes and never achieved it or did it for twice the money. From what I see your kit is a great kit Ray. I just prefer to be done with a engine that only one person makes aftermarket parts for.

Elite did you ever do this project? If so what did you decide to do with the motor mounts?
