Question Auxiliary Gas Tanks

Ok - any advise or opinions on auxiliary gas tanks? We have a 1994 Concord LS-7 that always seems to run low on gas and we have to stop and fill up before everyone else. We've considered an auxiliary gas tank that we could use mid-run. I'm personally concerned about a tank full of gas sitting in the boat (have space near engine compartment). We're thinking 12-15 gallon.

Help? Suggestions?
