Because its not half the product it used to be. It used to be a very good product, but they cheapened it up, and still charge the same amount of money for it. If you don't like AMSOIL, then I would use MOBIL 1 or REDLINE. They are also good products.

I switched to 15W-50 Motul 100% synthetic (non-pao). Synthetic from the ground up.
Amazing stuff. Engine just runs better.

Thats good to hear, their products are supposed to be very good also, however, at least where I am at, pretty damn expensive too. About $15/qt.

I get my motul from these guys. ABout $30.00 for 2.1 qt containers.

It is totally synthetic/non-pao...never was and never will have a drop of dinosaur juice in it.
They run cars at LeMans for 24hrs and most use it.
How far can you go before changing? I would say the usual 20 hrs and do an analysis before changing. I would bet if no water or gas in in the oil you can get out to 40-50 hrs.
Great stuff. I wish Mobil offered it's M-1R wich is what NASCAR uses. It is different than what we get off the shelf. Comes in drums I hear.

A PAO is a well refined base that begins with a fossil fuel and the hydrocarbon backbone is modified and there are grades of "Synthetic PAO's" from Group III to Grp V.
M-1 V-Twin is GRP-V as are most of Amsoil's products that sell for $10/qt and Redline's as well. They are outstanding.
Motul is for the oil coniseur who wants something that is unique and a chemistry that holds up well under intense heat and intense duration.
A good oil is like what happens when you put things in boiling water. Carrots become soft....eggs when boiled become hard....but the GRP V's and Motul are like coffee....hotwater makes them perform and they are enjoyable because of their chemistry and engineering design.!
How's that for a brief laymen's explanation.
Try Motul 15W-50....it's worth a try for the fun of it!

What on earth is a non - pao..???
Very simple answer, ...anything that is not a PAO
A PAO is a group IV base oil only, it is a synthesized hydrocarbon, the result of a chemical reaction.
GroupII and III are really Group I products, further processed.
Mobil 1 is a PAO Group IV product with esters, (Group V)
Mobil is the largest producer of Group IV PAO in the world, that is why it is used in Mobil 1 products, besides it is an outstanding base oil.
And Motul.....Group V
