Removing both nuts to install new no-drill Simrek showers
For those that have installed the new style Simrek no-drill drive showers, how are you removing the one nut that never comes loose on the trim ram shaft? Every time I've ever pulled a drive one nut comes loose on the ram shaft and it is the same nut every time. What about the other nut? If you pull the shaft out you cannot get a good enough grip on it to break the other nut loose. I'm hesitant to put it in a vise for fear of nicking up the shaft. Will leaving the shaft in place tight and hitting the one fixed nut with an impact break it loose? I also noticed some blue loctite on the fixed nut ('08 boat). Can't say I've seen loctite used here before. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You will need to use an impact wrench to remove the second nut. There should not be any loctite on any of the nuts and you should replace the nylocks every time you take one off, they are only designed to be used once.
