OT 4.6 ford

They have a bulletin out about some block deformity causing a leak on that motor and the 5.4. It basically says to inspect and if it looks o.k. put a new head gasket on, then if it leaks again, replace the motor. While they are under warranty most dealers just replace the motor right away.

thanks insptech.
thats what the dealer did. but first they removed, inspected, replaced head gaskets, reinstalled, got timing off, bent valve, pulled again, replaced valve, ground remaining valves, reinstalled, crapped out oil pump, ran with no pressure, replaced pump, reinstalled, delivered to me. i drove away(not knowing items mentioned above), only to have valve train start to chatter real loud. took back to dealer. dealer took one look and said motor will be replaced. what a nightmare.

It is sad the incompetence that seems to be rampant in the auto industry. All the old techs are giving it up and the new kids all want to work on computers. I deal with it on a daily basis and I can tell you that your story is not that unique. Glad Uncle Henry got to step up and buy you a new motor
