Default Electrical hook-up toggle swith

I need some advise hooking up my fresh water pump to a togle swith on my dash board. For whatever reason the previous owner disconnected it. The wiring diagram says the swith should have a white red and black connection. Is the white wire the sending wire to the pump? Red wire should be the power and black ground?

sounds good..but easiest thing to do would be to get a multimeter and test the wires...
