bravo HP gimbal Help
I , purchased a HP gimbal and not sure if its just a standard gimbal which some modiflied The part number on the side of the ring is 822374-C which I can't cross and have no idea how old it is.. I measured it to my stock bravo gimbal and the thickness is larger on my stock then the HP ring. The supposted HP gimbal ring has only two screw holes vertical that holds the four hole hinge pin , I don't believe this is a Hp gimbal . I was under the unstanding that they are larger all around and use four screws to hold the hinge pin in . Did they make some other type of HP gimbal that sounds like mine or did this guy take me for a ride. any help at all would be grateful to try to identify it. Thanks Alec

alecsammy,
The first HP gimbals that came out had the hinge pins held in with two bolts. I have one. It was a kit to upgrade a standard transom assy.
The standard assy uses pins screwed into the helmet and has trim limit switch and trim indicator sender mounted where the hinge pins on the HP are mounted.
When I received my HP gimbal and helmet kit, it looked to me that the gimbal ring was the same size as HP.. I was able to contact Merc and the engineer told me that it was 37% stronger because it was cast with a different method than the standard. That was in "95", so things may be different now. But if you have hinge pins that slide thru the gimbal and into bushings in the helmet, you have an HP transom.
Hope this helps.
