The megasquirt is for people that want to learn all about EFI. You can assemble your own, or have one built, then you add a wiring harness and hardware and you tune it with simple software.

That's interesting, I built one to about 90% complete (The Megasquirt) a couple years ago when I was working on the road and it was something I could do in the hotel room. But I haven't heard much about it on the boating boards, I need to dig it out and finish it and put it on my brother's Checkmate. I even have a GM TBI that I bought and rebuilt for it too.
