Need a longer hose.
Question: I have a 1997 7.4 bravo 1 combo. I bought the boat (22 Scarab) with a blown head gasket. After having the heads cleaned, magnafluxed, and a valve job done, I was going to have the intake manifold checked as well. It had a crack in the exhaust crossover passage (aftermarket Edelbrock). I purchased a performer RPM AIR GAP. Now for the problem the manifold is taller and raises the thermostat housing about an inch and a half higher. This causes a problem with several hoses, the only one I have not been able to rectify is the large outlet hose off the recirc pump to the thermostat housing front starboard ont the housing. Can I find a longer hose. Am I going to have to splice it to extend it (really dont want to do that) or get an aftermarket crossover and t-stat housing. Sorry for the long post.

I had a similar problem. I took my old hose to Pep Boys. They have hose the same diameter with the 90* bend, but with longer legs. I just cut it to length and clamped it on. I'd guess most any auto parts store could hook you up.

Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the info I looked at my local auto parts store. They did not have one that could even be modified but the selection was slim. However after posting I found on here where someone had the exct problem and apparently the 525SC hose is a perfect fit. Thanks.:ernaehrung004:

There was a post within the last two months about the mercruiser part number. I think it was used on the 525SC?
I think Griff posted the #, send him a PM and find out. I went to home depot and bought an plastic pipe, cut the hose in the middle and clamped it on. |

Thanks for the info. I have the 525SC hose on the way. Ezstriper the heads are oval port. I was looking for a manifold with the bronze crossover no luck for oval port. I figure it should last till next winter as I am building up a new powerplant now. I have been an outboard tunnel guy for a while but this seems like a fun little project and the wife said I finally got a boat you sit in instead of on. Looking forward to meeting some of the members in the houston area.
