Which Crane cam for my sbf?
H-260-2
duration @ .050: 204/216
adv. duration: 260/272
lift: .456/.484
H-272-2
duration @ .050: 2216/228
adv. duration: 272/284
lift: .484/.512
I know you guys are used to big blocks, chevys, and radical cams...but maybe someone can help me. My engine shop says the 272 is too much cam, and worries about detonation. Others are recommending the 272, assuring me I'll be fine.
It's going into a rebuilt sbf, .030 over, Inconal valves, Edelbrock manifold, Kodiak exhaust, Holley 600cfm carb, MSD ignition, and an older 1.5:1 Volvo 200 outdrive. All in my '67 16' Donzi. I'd like to create a good idle, great low-mid torque, good durability/reliability, and a decent top end at about 5,000rpm maximum. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, David. It is going in a 302 and it looks like I'll be using the H-260. I don't want any chance at all of detonation!
Miquel, there are not many choices for sbf performance exhaust systems. But I am told that Kodiak is the best out there. Good luck!
