How much are you ready to spend? I myself that it is worth the money just to pick up 30 hp. If you are going to upgrade spend the money and you can go to 700hp for about 10-15 grand. Just my opinion.

There are several different upgrades. Some are better than others for the money. The 2 biggest & best power makers are the Raylar kits & the whipple kits. They are also the most money. However there are lesser costly things that can also be done to increase perf & power, but again some are better than others there.. We have done quite a bit of work with 496s. It would be more helpful if you could let us know what kind of power you seek & ammount you are looking to spend.. Then we can let you know what would give you the most for your $$ Jamie / Lakeside

I too think it is just a cam difference between a 496 mag and 496 HO. Also in some of the older models the Ho had forged internals.

Some of the 496's did have forged parts. Also the main difference between the mag & mag Ho is the mag Ho has a different cam AND ecm program. Jamie / Lakeside

You would be $$$ and HP ahead to go with a Raylar Kit.

We inquired a 496 mag from a wreck ,and have it apart . And thought while it was apart that if it was just a cam change and a computer fix for the extra hp we would change them . we are not looking to put a raylar kit in it . One 750 x 2 hp boat is lots . thanks again for the help Jeff
