Volvo 496 8,1 GSI how can i see the manufacturing year ? besides from the serialnumber on the engine that sits on the waterpump decal. Is there any other way to se when it was produced, like number on the block or anything else ?

There is a tag on the starboard side of the block just before the bell housing and above the starter. The year made is there along with the serial number that should match the one on your engine cover etc.. It may be painted black and/or hard to read but it's there unless someone removed it.
