Motor Guru's
Hey guys im working on a BBC mark 4 and I noticed the oil galley plugs located behind the cam gear have holes drilled in the center of them. One is at .040 and the other is .078..Why the holes?are they needed? and what size should they be if needed?
Thanks Anthony |
My guess would be to lube the timing chain. Some guy's like to do this when they run a gear drive set up.

hey nordic
still working on that fountain? i hope you are keeping busy. steve:evilb::ernaehrung004: |
the holes are for oiling the timing chain, leave the .078 one in and delete the .040 one.

They not only lube the chain, but they keep a cushion of oil between the gear and the block so it doesn't dig into the block. I drill a .060 hole in the 2 plugs that are in the galleys that run through the lifters.

I would leave them just like they are ,,,thats how mine are ,,,and it works fine .
If u run a gear drive it works aswell,,,keeps it quiet. |
I agree, I diassembled 2 crusader 454 gen IV's and they both were drilled from the factory...

Thanks guys.
