lifter question
My lifters out of my 2000 hp500s are singels with a guide plate that lays in the block to keep them in line, as i been looking at new replacment lifters they all have a tie bar across the top of them in pairs, will i still need the guide plates with new lifters or not.

Rick,
No you will not. The vertical link bar will maintain the orientation of the lifters. Bob |

rs,
There are replacement lifters available that use the factory "dog bone" retainers. They are also usually a little less expensive than the link bar type. Bill Koustenis Advanced Automotive Machine Waldorf Md |
If at all possible, use the stock replacement lifters. They are some of the best that you can buy. I have only seen one of those lifters fail out of thousands.

could i just reuse them as they look fine , how many hours would you run them, i use royal purple sythetic oil every 20 hrs.

where can i get the stock style, mercruiser or aftermarket?
|
In a purely stock engine they should be good to 500-600 hrs. You can buy them from Competition Products. 920-233-2023

That's an interesting question above. I know you should never re-use flat tappets on a new cam, but can you safely re-use roller ones on a new cam - or is that a big no no too?
