Good question, yes I am planning on setting endplay in the boat. It seems everyone has a different idea on how to do this any input would be appreciated. I have plenty of room to work in the engine compartment.

[QUOTE=jeffswav;2845507Apparently the Gen VI conversion requires tapping and threading new holes for the timing cover.[/QUOTE]
Jeff,
That is not true. All you have to do to use the Gen6 style cam is buy the retainer plate and the correct iming chain set, but you have to have the correct cam also. If you already have a cam, then obviously this does not matter. I like the teflon buttons due to the ease of "adjustment" And like I mentioned earlier, I have seen some roller cam button bearings in the oil pan. I like to keep things as simple as possible, and you cant get any simpler than the teflon buttons. Basically nothing there to fail.

Thanks Bill, I just got the cam a couple of weeks ago from RMbuilder, so we are simply speculating. So to clearify, if a person were to convert a Gen V to Gen VI configuration a new cover would not be nesessary? Only a stepped Gen VI cam, retaining plate and new timing set? I told Bob up front I would be using my old timing set, then later we desided to replace it.
