LED Lighting problems

I purchased two led replacement bulbs, 19 L.E.D. S25 LED Light, from http://www.ledlight.com/s25-19-led-light.aspx

I pulled my single bayonet incandescent bulb from my cabin and replaced it with the led, same single bayonet, turned on the switch and nothing. Put back in the incandescent and it comes on no problem. I believed these were basically plug in play, am I missing a converting issue?

thanx

There is a polarity with LED's. Could that be your problem?

I flipped them, swapped them, tried multiple bulbs, tried everything.

Do you have a dimmer in line? Led's work in a very small voltage range. As has been mentioned they are diods so you have to get them in the correct way. Have you tried to just put power to the LED's out of the boat? Like from a battery?

No dimmer, just a straight switch, I have 4 total bulbs, 2 per pack, I doubt all 4 are bad, but I will try the battery test just to satisfy my curiosity.

without seeing it I would have to say it is a base incompatibility issue. Have you seen the new light go on at all? You cant test for continuity with led's unfortunately so you need to hold bare wire to it to test.

They do make continutity testers for LED's most good mulit meters will do it. It is polarity sensitive. If no multi meter go with the poor boys aproach and just touch the contacts with power. If it lights then your base is not working as Metal Bros. pointed out.
