Mercruiser 496 with DTS

Hi
A friend of mine has a 496 with the DTS system, digital shift and throttle. the engine wont start when he tries it, he doesent
have the DTS installed, can this make that the engine wont start ?

I'm thinking yes it will not start if he unpluged any thing from the system. But if it worked befor at one time and he has not done any thing to the system and now it will not start then the system would not need to be hook up for a all of a sudden the engine will not start one day thing. make sure the [ign] kill switch at the dash area is switched to run.

The 496 with DTS uses a different ECM than a non-DTS engine and yes it will not start or run unless the DTS helm throttle lever assembly is hooked up and fully powered up in the system. He should get the Mercruiser DTS engine system manual.
