I am confused, Marine mechs are telling me the 500 hps efi don't have a spring issue. I know the 525's and bigger hp engine require spring replacement.

Most mech are telling me that as long as I change oil and maint I would not have a problem with the 500hp efi's.

I went through this before when I bought 2 turbo jet skis. All the mechs and even the factory told me they was no issues with the turbos, sure enought both turbos went out at 45 hrs. The web was full of turbo failures. I was able to convince Seadoo that I knew they had a turbo issue and they paid 1500 per ski to fix.
This is the same hear, I am getting two different story and I am looking at real world experience verse what should not happen, I not talking about a boat that you would have the throttle slammed open all day long. I am going to get thru to Merc today and then wiegh all this. you guys have been a great help and most of you have been there and done that, Thanks

They don't have the big problems of springs breaking like the carbed engines, but they should still be changed out by about 250-300hrs. Its cheap insurance compared to a costly repair.

I would change them out. The carbed 500hp springs generally start breaking between 200 and 250hrs.
