how do you tell if you are in guardian mode? im breaking in the 502 efi and i cant get it over 2800 rpms, with alot of throttle to go, how do i trouble shoot it?

Based on the limited info you posted I'd say you'll need a scan tool. If you don't have access to one you could borrow the mefi computer from another boat.
