Default will 750cfm work?

I am throwing together a motor for my little boat, long block is a 525sc(454ci 7.5 to 1 comp with stock 525sc cam)it has a 174 b&m low profile single carb blower. The pulley set should make 5-6psi.boost.I have a 750cfm blower carb,I know it is too small,But will it work if jetted correctly?not looking for peak hp I just want it to run ok,thanks.

IMo' you need at least an 850cfm. The 750 is on the small side even for a mild 454.

You will need a 2:1 diameter ratio on the pulley diameter to make 5-6# of boost.

Mercruiser used 1050's on their 525sc's. I used an 800 Holley spread bore on my stock 330 horse with a 177 blower on it, because that's what I had. I had # 99 jets in the rear and drilled them out because my plugs were still whiter than I wanted. I ran it like this for 3 years with no problems, but kept my timing at 28 degrees total. Now I've swicthed to an 850 and my plugs look great. If you've got the 525 cam, I wouldn't rec. it.
