Where is a good spot to buy the Mobil 1 15-50 (particularly in Detroit area)?

I just got back from Murray's and they don't carry it.

Also, is there anything that differentiates Mobil 1 "V-twin" from the sythetic I saw there (in 5-20, etc)?

I bought Mobil-1, 15-50 today at wal-mart for $22/5 qt jug. It was like $6.50/qt, if you buy it by the qt.

I use walmart brand SAE10. The thinner oil gives me 500 more rpm and 10 mph. :D

What does that have to do with anything? You can run straight synthetic, straight mineral oil, or mix the two for god's sake. Personally, i don't think you should be commenting on anything when it comes to lubricants.

Walmart carries it , good price too. The V-twin is one of Mobil's best oils and they price it accordingly. It was originally designed for air cooled motorcycle engines that really heat up their oil.

So then, it is ok to use either synthetic or mineral only, as opposed to non-synthetic and non-mineral?

Am I reading this correctly?

I've been running Mobil 1 15-50 for several years in my old flat tappet Pachanga with zero issues.

Local marina says to run Merc 25-40 petroleum as he says the Merc oil has more zinc than the Mobil 1.

What's the real story on zinc levels of these two popular oils?

Thanks,

Kurt

Mobil 1 15w-50 is an excellent lubricant. Well respected in racing.

V-Twin is another great oil. A bit more robust than the 15w-50.

Take a look at the 100 page thread on this topic. All of this has been covered before. You need to look at facts not just speculate. I am not a oil expert that is why I just told him what I use.

I stand corrected it is up to 165 pages now. I put it to the top.:D
