Getting rid of the sea/fuel pump combo Gen 5
The bearings are loud and I think the belt is slipping at high RPM's causing the carb to run out of fuel. I have changed the oil every 25 hours since I have owned the boat, but I don't know what the past owners did. All these oil resevoirs seem to fill up with fuel, past the fuel pump diaphragm. They must be porus because they always look good to the eye. A merc replacement, that will fail again, lists for around $800.
So, will an earlier belt driven raw water pump (without fuel pump provision) bolt up to the existing bracket, and have the belt line up?
And, what is a good electric pump and regulator? I am thinking about the Mallory 140.
The motor is a 1995 525SC, intercooled, and a smaller blower drive pulley, maybe 575HP.

I used my existing seawater/fuel pump. Just cut off the cam armature, siliconed it up, put some oil in it and installed a Mallory 140 below the fuel line pick up straight from the tank. no problems a lot less hassle. You could also buy a mechanical fuel pump block off, or make one yourself.
