Default Northstar Ignition

Guys and gals, I'm looking at a 1990 Chris Craft 245ltd. Bone stock. Nice boat. I found another out east that hass added Northstar Ignition. Is this a common upgrade? Difficulty? More horsepower? Better fuel economy? Please advise.

I owned 3 different MasterCraft boats ('99, '00, '01) with Northstar ignition. The motors were Indmar 5.7L. They called the motor LTR, which was basically an LT-1. I owned the '99 and '00 each a year, and the '01 for 7-years.

Long story short; for the combined 9-years that I owned them, the motors were like a Swiss watch. Absolutely flawless year in, and year out.
